Dolenz returns to Exit Records with a six-track EP, documenting a year of musical and internal exploration. ‘Be Kind’ marks a return to his dystopian thinking whilst reflecting on the need for our society to retreat from a globalised way of life.

The EP is inspired by Dolenz’ local area (Clapton/Homerton) as referenced in the track titles. Within its dense soundscape he imagines a world where we return to living in smaller communities; a move towards a more sustainable society where we procure local services and products, helping and caring for those nearest to us. He took this idea to the street, working with visual artist Beg4Cred to implement a poster campaign built around illustrations of random acts of kindness, often going un-noticed but important to building a sense of community.

Sonically a departure from his previous EP ‘Kuntur’, ‘Be Kind’ sees him teaming up with 140 mainstay Cimm on the half time banger ‘Psalm 2’, and hip hop pioneer Sumgii on the melancholic 130 roller ‘Nil Feels’. His cites both producers as points of inspiration for his newly discovered sound. Further experimentation results in the synth-heavy futuristic Gothic funk of ‘Rush More’, whereas on ‘Dungeons’ he reminisces over the legendary underground club venue next to his flat in Lea Bridge.
